We Are Being Transformed into Christ-likeness
Mirror the Mirror was just held on campus in the Fireside Room. The goal was fellowship and to focus on what it means to truly be Transformed into Christ-likeness. This was an accompaniment to our Chapels. The theme of Chapels for this academic year is "We Are Being Transformed into Christ-likeness," which is from 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ASV): "...we all...beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image..."
NBC is committed to students' spiritual as well as academic growth. The Nazarene Bible College Chapels are central to this. They're crafted to help students follow Christ and learn how to impart faith and hope to non-believers. Chapels feature speakers who share poignant music and messages from the heart, but with little interactivity.
Mirror the Mirror was fully collaborative. Dr. Alan Lyke, our college Chaplain, gathered with students to pray and to share. The students got to know each other better. They discussed their challenges and how God's blessings are helping to overcome them. They told heartfelt stories and clarified their goals in Christ. They talked specifically about how God is working in their lives, about how they are being transformed into Christ-likeness.
After this, the group was moved to begin meeting every Thursday through the Spring term. Of course, after that some will graduate, and some will be off for the summer. For those graduating and moving on to their calling, this is one more special ingredient of the campus recipe that they will cherish.
We are humbled in God's grace to regularly connect with students, to help nurture their spiritual growth. It's a big part of NBC's commitment to providing an enriched Christian education. We pray that students take this with them, carrying on the tradition of fellowship and missions central to the Church of the Nazarene. It's one more step in following Christ in all we do.
