Christian Colleges Unite at IT Summit in California
This past week, IT members gathered on the west coast in beautiful San Diego, California for the annual Nazarene IT Summit conference. Each year one of our sister school Christian colleges or universities in the US take on the task of hosting this event for participants to congregate. This year, Point Loma Nazarene University hosted. Representatives from each IT department arrived with new ideas and information on the top technologies and best practices that we are implementing into our very similar but unique institutions. In kind, there were representatives from the Asia-Pacific institutions as-well-as Head Quarters, the Publishing House, and the Seminary via video teleconferencing.
Nazarene Bible College, our very own Colorado Christian college sent three of our brightest to attend the summit. An added bonus was the warm weather, amazing sites to see, and stunning harbor view from the hotel rooms. The three-day agenda consisted of meetings on the topic of forming a consortium. The type of consortium discussed consists of an association of three or more companies or organizations with the objective of participating in a common activity, or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal. Considering our sister Nazarene schools have the commonalty of providing higher education with a Christian purpose, this practical proposal sounds very promising.
The overall goal is to combine our efforts to achieve the greatest possible outcome within all of our Nazarene schools. Meaning, if we could all come together successfully, then our previous separate teams of extremely talented people will virtually become one exceptional team. This will result in saving resources that will allow for more advancement within our institutions. The potential is outstanding! For example, instead of only being able to serve our students during an eight to nine hour period, we could keep our help desks and call centers open almost entirely around the clock. Technology would be consistent within the consortium making the state divides between us feel non-existent. Rather than taking on those tasks separately, we would be working in unity to create one superior program.
As accredited Christian colleges and universities, campus and online Christian colleges, Christian bible colleges, and Seminaries, we are all working towards the same goal. The collaboration of great minds coming together is what will continue to provide this world with the best Christian school services offered. Our schools passionately aspire to serve God and the people He has called to do his work. For that reason, I feel assured of an exceptional future. At NBC, we will continue to do our best to help those called achieve their full potential. Whether it be through NBC or one of our terrific sister schools, united we are achieving quality Christian education for the people of this world to obtain.
