Great Days at Nazarene Bible College
A sigh of satisfaction and relief was heard on campus Wednesday afternoon as Nazarene Bible College's long awaited Higher Learning Commission Accreditation visit was officially over. During the all-campus meeting in Strickland Chapel where faculty and staff were presented with the summary of the HLC site visit team's report, there were several "Praise the Lord" and "Hallelujahs" heard on this blessed and historical day for our college. After investigating the in's and out's of our school, the team decided to recommend, to the Commission, that NBC's accreditation as a Bible College be extended for 10 years, which is the maximum time allowed, and something we desperately wanted to achieve. "This essentially gives the college a clean bill of health, which is not easy to come by these days." Dr. Harold B. Graves Jr. said. The official letter from the HLC Commission is expected late summer or early fall, after this team recommendation goes through the complete process.
On another note, after nine years of service to NBC, Rev. Steven Magee from the Online Department participated in his last day at the office. He celebrated and fellowshipped with his extended work family one last time before he heads off to Nashville, Tennessee to work at Trevecca Nazarene University. Many students and alumni knew Steve well, and now it is our chance to appreciate all he has done for the college and wish him the best in his next Christian education calling.
Lastly and to end on a high note, graduation is this weekend and to quote Dr. Graves, "We have 116 graduates this year, the second largest class since offering the Bachelor's degree. This includes 35 in Pastoral Ministries and 12 in Bible and Theology." I would just like to add... Praise the Lord! This is just another blessing for NBC and as President Graves put it, "These are great days for NBC!" Amen to that!
