Vandal Apprehended on NBC Campus
A little before 5 AM Thursday morning, two of Nazarene Bible College's buildings, Williamson Center and Leist Hall, were vandalized. Greg McKenzie, a campus security guard, was the first person to hear the intruder and immediately called the police for support. As a Christian College, we are truly blessed by God's continuous protection surrounding our campus and everyone would agree, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1. Thanks to God, our fantastic Colorado Springs police, and Greg's courage and quick reaction, we will never know just how bad things could have been. What we do know is, this could have been much worse, but with a true hero like Greg around and our local police officers, no one was hurt, and the damage at just a few thousand dollars was relatively minimal.
Although this week held events that we were not expecting to go through, the fact is, it has only made us stronger. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you..." Isaiah 41:10. I have come to realize that God never lets us get too complacent. I believe that these "reminders" are blessings in disguise. While some may not know how to respond to the vandalization that took place on campus, our family looks at it as another opportunity to better ourselves and the college for our students and ministry.
I have to admit that although I was somewhat unnerved by the situation that took place, I couldn't help but bear in mind the promises God made to us in the Bible. So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" Hebrews 13:6.
