Nazarene Bible College Appoints Alan Lyke Vice President for Academic Affairs
Nazarene Bible College President, Dr. Harold B. Graves, Jr., is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alan D. Like as Vice President for Academic Affairs. This appointment was approved by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees in their meeting on March 26, 2013.
Dr. Lyke has served in a variety of positions at Nazarene Bible College since 1995. He has served as professor, chaplain, Chair of the Church Ministries Department, and Dean of Online Education, his current position. During his tenure as professor, he also served as the Dr. Eugene and Fay Stowe Chair of Pastoral Care.
Lyke is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, B.S., Music Education, 1975; Nazarene Theological Seminary, M. Div., 1987; Drew University, D. Min., 2006. He has also done graduate studies at Iliff School of Theology and Denver Seminary, both in Denver CO. Dr. Lyke has served the Church of the Nazarene as a lay leader, an associate pastor, and a church planter. He has also served on various denominational committees.
Dr. Lyke developed and facilitated SOULSPACE: a computer-mediated area created for the purpose of fostering spiritual well-being as one of the requirements for the Doctor of Ministry degree earned from Drew University, 2006. He was awarded the Robert J. Duncan, Jr. Prize for Creative and Innovative Use of Technology in a Project Thesis in the Global/Online Doctor of Ministry Program at Drew University, 2006 for the project.
Married to Marilyn (nee' Foster) since December, 1975, the Lykes have three children: David, Ariana (and son-law Zack) Barber, and Jonathan (and daughter-in-law Jadh) Lyke. They are also grandparents of Ceridwen Lyke, now deceased.
Dr. Lyke will assume his new duties on July 1, 2013
