Lake Havasu Church of the Nazarene is in the pastoral search process. They are seeking qualified candidates for the Senior/Lead Pastor position. The following is a brief description of the church, its ministries, facility and type of pastor they desire:
Lake Havasu Church of the Nazarene is a friendly and welcoming church with a mission to reach the local community and the world with the transforming news of God’s grace.
The church is comprised primarily of retired senior adults with a few couples and families in the young to middle-age adult category. They have a fairly active youth group but with sporadic participation in the Sunday worship time. There are a few young children who attend with grandparents.
The former pastor, along with church leadership, made great efforts to reach younger generations in the community with some success but regretfully COVID wiped out most of the pre-pandemic gains. They are willing to re-group and try again with their new leader.
The worship experience leans toward traditional. There are two worship teams with one focusing on a more contemporary style of music.
The church is very stable financially and offers a good compensation package for the Senior/Lead Pastor position. There is no debt and the church has a strong operating reserve, plus designated funds to upgrade the video/live-streaming equipment. The church has a deep commitment to global missions and is supportive of the District and other denominational ministries.
Theologically, the church is traditional with a strong focus on holiness.
The facilities are well cared for and include a main worship building with sanctuary, offices, fellowship hall and restrooms. The educational building has classrooms, plus there is a small one-bedroom furnished apartment in a separate building which has been used for guest speakers and ministry interns.
Current morning worship attendance is 51 in-person, plus online. Pre-pandemic the church averaged 79 in morning worship.
The church desires a Senior/Lead Pastor who is clearly called to Lake Havasu and the surrounding area with its unique recreation and retirement culture.
The pastor will need to be an experienced preacher/communicator with a shepherd’s heart who leads relationally. The new pastor will need skills that enable him/her to facilitate the development of a strategic plan, plus motivate leaders and volunteers.
Lake Havasu is a stable, healthy church with growth potential. The church is prayerfully anticipating the new season of ministry God is leading them to. Looking for potential candidates.
