The Torch Ceremony (During Commencement Ceremony)
The Commencement service includes a long-standing tradition of the College – the Torch Ceremony. The ceremony involves each graduate moving to the platform, receiving the torch from a fellow graduate, holding the torch high while speaking, stating your name and where you live, giving an appropriate spoken vow–an expression of your heart’s purpose. (You may use your own words, words of a song, words of scripture, or a meaningful quotation, etc.) You should speak no longer than 30 seconds, and speak with sincerity and certainty, passing the torch to a fellow graduate, and returning to your seat.
