NBC’s Annual Faculty Workshop for 2019-2020

Why would men and women from Kansas, Arizona, Idaho, Texas and Colorado get together for a meeting in Lenexa, Kansas? Because they’re all members of Nazarene Bible College’s Academic Council, and it was time for the annual Faculty Workshop.

Each year the council meets to consider the year past and look forward to the year ahead. This year the group spent time reviewing the “Why” of “Why We Do What We Do.” Each person came away with a fresh appreciation for the call of God that brought their colleagues to NBC, and that continues to call them to their ministry there. The council also recognized that to Start with Why (a book by Simon Sinek) would strengthen every aspect of their work for the college.

The council also considered ways to improve NBC’s students’ learning experiences. The primary focus was on increasing video resources in the college’s courses and the best way to make that happen. Implementation of the strategy adopted by the council will be evident in some classes before the end of the 2019-20 academic year.

The annual meeting began with dinner at the academic dean’s home, included a celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and concluded with a meal at Kansas City Joe’s, a local favorite BBQ place. The fellowship around the tables enhanced the work accomplished during the meetings, and deepened the connection the council members have with each the other.

Everyone agreed it was good to be together. They’re looking forward to the coming academic year, and to next year’s workshop.
