Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy Seminar

In this day of the sliding DOW and escalating unemployment, it is time to reflect on some of our basic beliefs. What is really important in life, and what is required to be a good steward of our God-given resources? While many are blaming our current financial meltdown on poor fiscal management, improper oversight, inadequate procedures, and other management tools, we know, if only intuitively, that these are not the “real” issues. The “real” issue is Spiritual Capital!

Most traditional business schools explore such concepts as working capital, political capital, and people capital. However, at Nazarene Bible College we are teaching leaders that, in addition to the tools and theories of leadership and management, we must also understand and practice the virtues which are becoming known as Spiritual Capital. It has long been known and taught by Christian organizations that, as people come to faith in Jesus Christ, their lives become more purposeful, meaningful, and marked by servanthood. What has not been clearly articulated is that, for a business to have long-term viability, it must have and be growing Spiritual Capital. It has become apparent to most observers of the market place that the economy and the stock market can be crippled just by eroding the virtues of trust and accountability. How much different would the current situation on Wall Street be if the foundations of trust, accountability, and transparency were evident and growing? If businesses are to be viable, then their leaders must learn to nurture and grow the company’s Spiritual Capital.

The Leadership and Ethics program at Nazarene Bible College is pleased to serve the Colorado Springs community by inviting church, business, military, and government leaders to join us as we highlight the virtues which have allowed the Chick-fil-A organization to enjoy 41 years of ever-increasing revenues and growth.

Join us in Strickland Chapel on the campus of Nazarene Bible College on April 21, 2009 from 1 to 2 pm, to hear Mr. Dan Cathy, the President and COO of Chick-fil-A, extol the virtues of hard work, integrity, and service. Come and help us celebrate the concept of Spiritual Capital as expressed in the beliefs, values, and excellence of the Chick-fil-A organization.

Registration for the seminar is required.  Send an email to meott@nbc.edu with the words “Chick-fil-A” in the subject line.  Give the name and email address of each person who will attend.  An email confirmation will be sent to each registrant.
