Professor Warrington: A Teacher/Pastor with a Multiculture View
My name is Joe R. Warrington. I was born on the island of Dominica, a small island nation surrounded by the Atlantic and Caribbean seas. At the age of 19, I received the Lord as my personal Savior at a crusade conducted by a number of churches in our nation's capital. I was called to preach the gospel one year later and enrolled at Caribbean Bible School. I later transferred to Circleville Bible College, now Ohio Christian University, in 1976, and graduated in 1978 with a B.A. in Christian ministries. I moved to Jackson, Mississippi and completed graduate studies in theology at Wesley Biblical Seminary. The summer of my graduation, I got married to Jackie, and we moved to Altadena, California to a pastoral assignment. We would spend twelve good years in California in pastoral ministries as well as graduate studies at Pepperdine University. In 1993, my family relocated to Colorado Springs where I joined the faculty at Nazarene Bible College. Jackie and I have three daughters: Jewel, Joy, and Jasmine. We now have five granddaughters and two grandsons.
This fall marks the beginning of my twenty-seventh year with NBC. It has been a blessing to serve our students over the years as they pursue their ministerial preparation in answer to God’s call. It is truly an honor to give leadership to the Ministry Preparation Program (MPP) as another opportunity to serve our students seeking ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. I have been immersed in practical theology almost four decades, and I am very fortunate to be able to bring the practical and theoretical aspects of ministry into the classroom.
I enjoy pastoring Grace Church of the Nazarene, a multicultural church. I also enjoy golfing, fishing, dominoes, and on some occasions, play a little cricket. My greatest joy is my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I am delighted to be part of the NBC family.
