God Loves Love
There are many holidays we celebrate where God must scratch His head and wonder what it is that we are celebrating. I’ve long thought that God must view Valentine’s Day this way. Yet, as I sit here with His Word in my hands, I see one supreme and dominant attribute of the Author. God is LOVE. He doesn’t just love; He IS Love.
He loves LOVE. The Bible itself is His love affair with His creation. And we, by His design, are the pinnacle of that Love.
Jeremiah 31:3 tells us, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.”
Religion will show you God’s law and try to get you to follow the “rules,” but God… Oh, He loves you, and when you experience that Love, it will draw you into Him, and you will never want to leave His side.
A few years ago, some friends from the Mid-West came and visited, and all they wanted to do was see the ocean. They had heard about its beauty, but as they stood there in awe, I realized again that the total beauty of the sea could not be understood until it is experienced. The same falls true with God’s Love. You can read about it; you can hear stories about, but you cannot understand its beauty until you stand before it and its waves cover you.
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God.” 1 John 3:1
