Come in Person or Watch Online

There are only three more days until the Nazarene Bible College 2021 Commencement. Because of the difficult times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to have Graduation last year, but this year, we rejoice that we can celebrate the graduating Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 together in one special Commencement.

Commencement will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. This will be a live, in-person ceremony at Central Church of the Nazarene, 12600 W. 87th Street Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66215.

The Commencement will also be livestreamed: https://vimeo.com/554514325

We celebrate all 156 of our graduates from classes 2020 and 2021. These students will be receiving their Bachelor of Arts in Ministry (B.A.Min.) degree in the following major areas of study: Bible and Theology, Christian Educational Ministries, Counseling for Christian Ministries, Hispanic Pastoral Ministries, Leadership and Ethics, Pastoral Leadership, and Pastoral Ministries. Some students will receive their Associate of Arts in Ministry (A. A. Min.) degree. Still others, will receive their Certificate of Ministry Preparation Program (MPP), for completing the requirements for men and women preparing for ordination as an elder or deacon in the Church of the Nazarene.

This will be President Harold B. Graves, Jr.’s, 15th NBC Commencement before his retirement at the end of June 2021. It is fitting that President Graves will be the Commencement speaker this year.

One of the exciting parts of an NBC Commencement is the Torch Ceremony. This ceremony has been a part of Commencement for more than forty years and is unique to NBC. It highlights each student’s call to ministry as each graduate personally takes the torch, shares a key Scriptural promise and declares their commitment to ministry in the years ahead. It is very inspirational and unforgettable.

The Graduation Day festivities begin on Saturday with the crucially important Commencement Rehearsal at 9:00 a.m. This is required for all the graduates as they are instructed by the President, Academic Dean and the Registrar in exactly how, when and where they each will participate in the Commencement Ceremony. The rehearsal always includes organizing the Processional March, explaining and demonstrating the Torch Ceremony, and showing the steps of Awarding of the Diplomas. Graduates should arrive early at Central Church before the Commencement Rehearsal begins at 9 AM.

There is a Meet and Greet that happens after the Commencement Rehearsal (approximately 10:00 a.m.). Because Nazarene Bible College is a completely online university, this Saturday is likely to be the first time for students to meet their fellow student colleagues, their professors, and advisors in person! This Meet and Greet is a wonderful time to be able to see each other and to introduce our family members to the classmates who are graduating with us. The NBC Staff, Faculty and Administration will also be there to personally meet and greet the graduates and their families.

Graduates and their families with then have time to go out to lunch, dress, and return to Central Church at 2:00 p.m. to put on their robes and prepare for Commencement at 3:00 p.m.

May those that are traveling, arrive safely, and God’s richest blessings to all those graduating!
