NBC President Update
Dr. Scott Sherwood shared about his ministry as NBC President at our weekly NBC Zoom Chapel on August 17, 2022.
President Sherwood has been able to attend 33 district assemblies during District Assembly season. His overall take away from his travels is that NBC is positively regarded by pastors, churches, church boards, church ministry boards, and NBC alumni. Dr. Sherwood found much good will for NBC.
He enthusiastically said, “NBC has a good reputation and churches are big fans of NBC. We have a reputation as a trustworthy partner to the church. This is a reputation that has been forged, earned, and that runs deep in people’s perceptions; It comes because of what our team has done consistently, decade over decade.”
NBC is a fourth of the way to reaching her goal of 1,000 Presidential Partners, giving $1,000 or more per year and praying 1,000 seconds per year for NBC.
Dr. Sherwood explained that his efforts could not have been accomplished if there was not a team running the school while he was out traveling. He thanked our Provost, the Cabinet, Faculty and NBC teams for their efforts, and their dedication to the mission.
One lesson he left with the team was that there is no more important outcome of our ministry than the kind of person we become while doing it.
One scripture he shared with faculty and staff was Proverbs 4:23-27.
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.” (NLT)
He concluded: “My heart beat isn’t just that all of our work produces the desired results but also that each of us would become the kind of person God created us to be as we work hard on this mission and work together with each other.”
