Don't Know Where I'm Going
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Hebrews 11:8, Abraham was called “to go out” without knowing where he was going. Today's culture often stipulates there needs to be a vision with strategies and details with a particular plan in place to arrive at a destination. And with a given destination, that means there is a direction. However, with God, it isn’t necessary knowing the destination; It is clearly about being led by the one Who will lead you in walking together, to arrive at the unknown destination.
After different places of service, pastoring in Canada for seven years, serving as missionaries on the Africa Region for 13 years, pastoring in Pittsfield, IL for six years, God called Jon and Mary-Lou Kroeze to go to the community of Louisiana, MO. They did not know what God had in mind for them there. They did not have any contacts there. They had no connections. They had no promised income. They had several of their closest friends and mentors counsel them not to go. But they were sure God was leading them. They left their perceived safe and comfortable life and obeyed God’s leading. The unknown adventure has brought on an experience of the most fruitful ministry they have yet to have. God led them to open a coffee house (Nazarene Compassionate Ministry) called The Bridge, where they have influence in the community through conversations.
The Abraham story, "by faith" not knowing the destination but knowing this God Who walks with you, continues to bless and bless through into the promised land.
