Celebrating our Graduates
NBC students are spread across the USA/Canada region, already ministering in churches and communities well before they graduate, and many prefer not to travel for a graduation ceremony.
So NBC now travels to them!
Already this year, faculty and board members have traveled as far away as the Nazarene church Westlock, Alberta, Canada.
Each celebration is a coordinated effort between the local church and NBC’s President’s office. The ceremony is short enough to be added to the regular service, allowing the congregation to celebrate their own graduate. Many churches have also chosen to host a reception.
An NBC representative travels to the graduate’s local church for a Sunday service. The Bible college provides a personalized slideshow (including the graduation march music!), announcing all the important details: program completed, certificate or degree earned, and personal ministry vision.
“It is always encouraging for me when I facilitate one of these graduation celebrations,” says Dr. Daniel Powers, director of Pastoral Ministries Program, “because it reminds me of why we do what we do at NBC.”
Each celebration is a real-life example of the partnership between NBC and the local churches of the Nazarene. District Superintendents, pastors, and congregations have all expressed their excitement “that someone from NBC actually traveled all the way to their church to celebrate.”
