Course Description

This is a course survey of concepts, principles and practices for church and faith-based non-profit organizations from the perspective of a non-financial manager. A basic understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, working capital, short-term and long-term corporate financing, the cost of capital, and the time value of money from the perspective of a leader in today's world. This course includes the Biblical concept of stewardship as it relates to wise and ethical finance procedures.

Course Objectives

  1. Articulate the importance of asset management for the near and long-term financial health of the organization.
  2. Evaluate the various ways in which organizational resources can be used to generate income.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize the fundamental concepts of stewardship and recognize the importance of money and wealth in our society and its effects
  • Distinguish Financial Managements perspective to financial decision making
  • Identify Accounting System design
  • Identify the elementary stakeholders and their interest in the business and various aspects of financial organization
  • Understand Income, Balance, and Cash Flow mechanisms
  • Expose health criterion and the application of ratios and articulate various aspects of financial analysis
  • Identify issues and challenges associated with budgeting
  • Discern the concept of performance measurement and tracking cost
