THE3624 - Holiness and the Life of the Believer
Course Description
An introduction to the doctrine of Christian Holiness from a uniquely Wesleyan-Holiness perspective. Particular attention will be given to the formative nature of the believer's life in Christ.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Grasp biblical holiness as rooted in the character of God and incarnate in the person and work of Jesus.
- Recognize the biblical and theological terminology related to holiness.
- Identify the lines of biblical teaching on holiness from the various authors and forms of literature.
- Understand the doctrine of holiness from a Wesleyan-Holiness perspective and as central to other major doctrines of the Christian faith.
- Distinguish between different theological traditions concerning the doctrine of biblical holiness.
- Gain a deeper appreciation for effectively and persuasively articulating the doctrine of holiness.
- Connect their knowledge of biblical holiness with the personal experience of God's transforming grace.
- Explore ways to cultivate the holy life personally and corporately.
- Discover how God desires to use Spirit-filled believers in every day living, in service to others, and in witness to the world.
