Ministry Preparation Program Deacon Track

The Ministry Preparation Program (MPP) exists to prepare men and women for ordination as an elder or deacon in the Church of the Nazarene through a series of courses that earn one semester hour of credit each. NBC is approved by the Church of the Nazarene International Board of Education for training leaders toward ordination or commission in the ministries of the Church of the Nazarene.

The deacon track is designed for those called to Christian ministry. A deacon may not witness to a specific call to preach, or a desire to be the lead pastor, but would like to use his or her gifts in support of the Church. The deacon track helps to sharpen a student's understanding and is tailored to his or her desired role in ministry.

Persons seeking to be ordained as a deacon in the Church of the Nazarene may serve in one of the following ministry roles as designated by the denomination: administrator; chaplain; deaconess; educator; minister of Christian Education; minister of music; special service (Manual paragraphs 503-513).

NBC’s Ministry Preparation Program offers the courses required for ordination as deacon for each of the designated ministry roles. Each curriculum is unique for each ministry role. Contact the Ministry Preparation Program office at (719) 884-5141 for further information about the deacon track ordination programs.
