Holy Week. Holy People.
Good morning, friends. I trust you experienced a blessed Palm Sunday.
Holy Week is filled with significance for holiness people. This is especially true as we consider the many various and diverse images of Jesus between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday. Which image of Jesus during Holy Week most resonates with you?
Is it the picture of the compassionate shepherd, weeping over Jerusalem? (Matthew 23)
Is it the image of righteous indignation, as Jesus drives the moneychangers out of the Temple? (Matthew 21)
Is it the depiction of the ever-sustaining Jesus miraculously helping Peter pay the taxes? (Matthew 17)
Is it the portrait of Jesus praying for our unity in the Upper Room discourse? (John 17)
Is it the representation of a heavily-burdened Jesus, praying in the garden, seeking only God’s will? (Matthew 26)
Is it Jesus the healer reattaching Malchus’ severed right ear? (Luke 22)
One thing these various images of Jesus teach us is that no matter where we are in the journey, not only is Jesus walking beside us, He has been there before.
In our ministry journey this Holy Week, let us remember all that Jesus did for us that Holy Week.
Take heart. Be encouraged. Christ is with us.
