About the Summit

The Military Ministry Summit was created to ignite, equip, and sustain dynamic faith communities of ministry to service members and their families. Nearly everyone knows at least one person in the military — they serve us without question, and the Summit grew from the conviction that it is our turn to serve them. The event brought leaders, organizations, and sponsors together in a shared effort to mentor military personnel and their families.

Mission

The Summit's mission was to encourage, educate, and empower the development of ministry efforts by local faith-based organizations for military personnel and their family members throughout the greater Colorado Springs area.

The 2012 Summit

The Summit was held for local leaders and congregations on October 4, 2012, hosted by Nazarene Bible College in Strickland Chapel. Speakers led the day around four questions that remain at the heart of military ministry:

  • What needs are military personnel and their families facing?
  • What military, civilian, and religious resources are available to help congregations meet these needs?
  • How are other congregations successfully meeting these needs?
  • What first steps can a congregation take to meet these needs?
