Why did you enter your specialty? While pursuing my first career, I lived nine years in Spain, learning Spanish and eventually becoming both a bi-vocational pastor there, then, after attending NBC, a full-time missionary in South America. God showed me that many, many Spanish-speakers need to know Him.

Why are you at NBC? After graduating from NBC, we served 10 years overseas. We needed to come back to the US to take care of our elderly parents. Dr. Lyke and President Graves offered ma a dream job – to help Hispanic pastors in the US earn a pastoral ministry degree in Spanish by taking online courses at NBC. Over 400 students have taken these courses since 2012.

Publications/current project: A year ago, my wife Susan and I agreed to pastor together a small Nazarene congregation in Central Pennsylvania – after more than 30 years of ministry (all in Spanish), this is the first time we are working in English.

Best advice I ever received: Don’t ask God to give you your choice. Ask Him to give you His choice. Leave the choosing to God. I would have never left my hometown or changed careers twice; I would have never had the amazing blessings and friendships and experiences that God has given me, if I had gone with my choices.

Friends describe me as: Friendly and easy-going (until they really get to know me).

Favorite place to visit: Barcelona, Spain. It’s got everything (food, history, cultures, music, the Mediterranean, mountains, great weather, it’s safe and easy to get around – you can’t get lost, amazing architecture, multiple cathedrals, sidewalk cafes, etc.).

Hobbies: Watching sports, walking with my wife, listening to good music
