Nazarene Bible College Announces Appointment of New Vice President for Advancement, Dr. Joseph Watkins

Nazarene Bible College (NBC) is pleased to announce an addition to its Cabinet, Dr. Joseph Watkins, appointed as Vice President for Advancement starting October 1.

Dr. Watkins, who has extensive experience in both pastoring and higher education, has stepped into this role following Mr. Tim Keeton’s retirement. Dr. Watkins has a Bachelor’s and Master’s from Point Loma Nazarene University, and he earned his Ph.D. in higher education administration with a minor in management and policy from the University of Arizona. He served in leadership at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) for 17 years, first as Director of Development and eventually retiring as Executive Vice President. He has served as youth pastor and lead pastor as recently as 2025.

President Doug Pierce expressed enthusiasm for this new hire, saying, “Dr. Watkins’ extensive experience in Christian higher education, including giving leadership to the Advancement Office at PLNU, will be a strong asset for NBC. He loves the church and is a gifted strategic thinker.”

NBC looks forward to continuing to develop stronger connections within this vibrant community and strengthening resources for our students.
